It's easy to shy away from criticism.
It's easy when people agree with you.
It's easy to play it safe and only do what you're already good at.
It takes true badass spirit to invite critique. In fact, on one of my projects I pay someone $6,000 each month to point out every occasion where I drop a ball or do something inadequately. I've hired her because she knows more than I do, has more experience in designing/launching a new brand, and is willing to butt heads with me whenever she sees a better way.
Why do I pay someone $6,000/month to challenge me?
Because I want to learn.
Because I strive to be better.
Because I respect my client too much. They deserve flawless execution.
It's not easy, and it often stings.
Are you badass enough to invite criticism?

Jessica,
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to spend money for someone to sprinkle growth hormones on your instincts. There are no absolutes in life. Trust that the seeds you may have planted on fertile ground will eventually grow and even surprise you beyond your intentions.
Use some of the $6,000.00 to take time, sit on a beach or on top of a mountain, listen to and follow your heart... it will not let you down, and be open to life's timing not being yours.
Joe, yeah, a badass guy. Have a nice day.
