"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt."
-The Special Olympics Oath
This week I'm filming the Special Olympics in Lincoln, Nebraska. Right now I'm sitting in a corner editing with noise cancellation headphones on. I'm gazing out onto a room filled with people.
People who have disabilities.
People who volunteer to help them.
People who coach them.
People who love them.
Talk about a movement. In 1968 one woman declared to the world that people with disabilities would be CELEBRATED for their spirit and their abilities. Not tolerated, not stepped on, not dismissed. CELEBRATED.
Thank God for that declaration.
What's your declaration?

ReplyDeleteMy decleration is that I will help children who have be victims of sexual and mental abuse. I was a victim of sexual abuse for many years and I NEVER want another child to experience what I went through. Many children carry these trauma into their adulthood I believe mental health is like the big elephant standing in the room; everyone knows its there but they do not do anything about it. By addressing these issues early it will help better our future society. This is my drive and my passion to help others especially those how can't help themselves.
